How to start a lifestyle brand. Swimwear brand

Can you tell us a little bit about how the idea for Bermies came about?

UKI: Sure, it all started when the airline lost our luggage on a Vacation to Bermuda. We went out to buy some new trunks but everything we found was overpriced and unfashionable. I looked at Gaston and said  “we could definitely make something better than these swim trunks”.

GASTON: We set out to create something that was not only stylish and comfortable but also was environmentally friendly and aspired to a sense of adventure.

And how did you come up with the name “Bermies"?

UKI: We got inspired by the Island of Bermuda, where we spent most of our childhood summers. The sun, the beach, the sand, tropical climate, flora, and fauna found in Bermuda Islands. So we decided to name our brand after it.

What makes Bermies stand out from other swimwear brands?

GASTON: We believe it's our focus on sustainability and adventure that sets us apart. We use recycled polyester made from recycled plastic bottles, so our products are eco-friendly. Plus, our designs are inspired by the vibrant colors and exotic wildlife of Bermuda, giving them a unique touch.

UKI: Our swim trunks are not just stylish but also highly affordable. The primary feedback we receive from our customers is that Bermies are the most comfortable swim trunks they've ever worn. This is because we use premium-quality fabrics, which makes them stretchy, breathable, and, most importantly, quick to dry.

It's clear that sustainability is at the heart of Bermies. What else does the brand stand for?

GASTON: We're not just about creating eco-friendly swimwear. We also believe in giving back to the environment. That's why to reduce our carbon footprint we are committed to plant trees and we partner with organizations that are dedicated to cleaning up the world's oceans and protecting marine life.

UKI: We wanted to expand our offerings beyond swim trunks, so we now have a variety of garments available, including gym shorts, weekend shirts, towels, t-shirts, and more. We want our customers to be able to incorporate Bermies into their everyday lives, not just on the beach.

How did you guys go about starting a business in the fashion industry with no background in it?

UKI: It wasn't easy, but we were determined to make a difference. We did a lot of research, learned as much as we could, and worked hard to create a brand that we believed in.

GASTON: We wanted to create a brand that reflected our values and our love for the beach. We knew that if we put in the effort, we could create something special.

What are your plans for the future of Bermies?

GASTON: We're always looking for ways to be more sustainable and eco-friendly, so that's something we'll be focusing on.

UKI: We're expanding our product line to include adventure and outdoor essentials. Stay tuned for our new ideas, including winter gear like ski jackets and pants, yoga sets, and improvements to our golf line.
